Mamie, 36, lives in Buchanan, Liberia, with her husband and two children between the ages of 7 and 10, who are currently in school. She received the initial capital to start in this business from her husband. She has a provision shop where she has been selling candy, salt, vita, bread, biscuits, slippers, washing soap, bath soap, hair grease, and many other items. She started this business with the amount of 10,000 LD (Liberian Dollars). She makes a profit when she sells, and with the profit she buys more goods, and contributes to the home. She requesed a loan to purchase more peanuts, salt, washing soap, bread, and biscuits to increase her sales. Her future plan is to educate her children.
In November 2012, Elon Microfinance Initiative helped Mamie achieve her dream with a $25 loan.
