abenaAbena sells slippers, bananas and plantains at Besease, a small village near Elmina in rural Ghana. She has been selling these items for seven years. Abena is married to a farmer and has five dependents. Abena uses her income to help her husband provide for their family. She used her loan to purchase more slippers to sell. With the profit, Abena plans to acquire a shop in which to sell her slippers. Elon Microfinance Iniative supported Abena’s efforts in December 2011 with a loan of $50.
